Notting Hill Carnival is an free annual colourful street festival in Notting Hill, London, UK each August. It is one of Europe's largest carnivals, attended by up to a million people each year.

The Notting Hill Carnival was influenced by black immigrants from the Caribbean, particularly Trinidad, who were concerned about the rising racial tensions in the area as well as the low standard of living and lack of career opportunities. The first street festival started in 1965 with only a small gathering of 500 people.
