Pakistan was created on 14 August 1947 when British India was partitioned into two independent states: India, which was mainly Hindu, and Pakistan, which was mainly Muslim After continuous conflict between East and West Pakistan, the East finally became the independent state of Bangladesh on 26 March 1971.
