Houses of Parliament Summer Opening
Central London

During the summer break for Parliament it is possible to buy a ticket for a 75-minute guided tour of the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

The Houses of Parliament, also called the Palace of Westminster, was one a royal palace. The last monarch to live here, Henry VIII, moved out in 1512. 

The Houses of Parliament is where the two Houses of the Parliament of the United Kingdom (the House of Lords and the House of Commons) conduct their sittings. It is the place where laws governing British life are debated and passed. Parliament has met here since around 1550.

2 August 1798: John Palmer, a famous actor in London, performed the most impressive death ever seen in theatre history. On saying the words "There is another and better world", he collapsed. The audience applauded widely at such brilliant acting. It was no act. He died!
