Elvis was born in Tupelo, Mississippi on 8 January 1935. His twin brother, Jessie Garon, was stillborn, leaving Elvis to grow up as an only child. Elvis Presley made his first television appearance on 3 March 1955. Elvis Presley was an American musician and actor. A cultural icon, he is widely known by the single name Elvis. He is often referred to as the "King of Rock and Roll" or simply "the King". Why is Elvis famous? Elvis is regarded as one of the most important figures of twentieth-century popular culture.
