Hawker Hurricane

The Hawker Hurricane, the Royal Air Force's first monoplane (single-seat)fighter, made its first flight on 6 November 1935. Heavily armed, with 4 machine-guns in each wing, it claimed to be the fastest interceptor in the world, with a top speed of more than 325 mph (520 km/h) at 20,000 ft (6500 m). The Hawker Hurricane was the first fighter plane to break the 300 mph barrier.
