Claude Monet was born in Paris on 14 November 1840. What is Monet famous for? Monet is famous for his paintings and is one of the founders of the Impressionistic style of art. Developed in the 1870s, Impressionism was a new approach to art where people created an inmediate "impression" of a scene instead of a detailed reproduction. Small brush strokes and light reflection often characterised this type of art.
