The first free flight with human passengers took place on November 21, 1783

The first tethered balloon flight with humans on board took place 15 October 1783. Jean Francois Pilatre de Rozier and Francois Laurent, Marquis d'Arlandes, were the first people to fly when they ascended in a Montgolfier hot-air balloon in Paris, France. Back to Facts of the Day Calendar
