Why is William Henry Fox Talbot famous?

William Henry Fox Talbot is known as The Father of Modern Photography. Although he didn't invent photography, he discovered the process of printing on light-sensitive paper - he invented the calotype process, the first negative/positive method of photography. This pioneering discovery has enabled generations to capture the world around them, something of which had only previously been possible through talented painters

William Henry Fox Talbot was born on 11 February 1800 in Melbury, Dorset.
