He helped to take over new land for the Roman Empire, including England and Germany.

The Calendar

Julius Caesar reformed the calendar. With only minor changes his is the calendar we use today. One month, July, is named in his honour.

Caesar, the most powerful man in Rome

He became the most powerful man and sole leader in Rome and some people thought he was too powerful and that he wanted to be king. A group of senators (led by Brutus and Cassius) decided to kill him and take his power back. They surrounded him and stabbed him with their daggers on the Ides (15) of March 44 BC.

First Emperor of Rome

Caesars murder sparked the final round of civil wars that ended the Republic. Caesar's great nephew and designated heir, Octavian, appointed Augustus, the first emperor.
