JK Rowling, author of the Harry Potter books, was born on 31 July 1965, in Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire, England , 10 miles (16.1 km) northeast of Bristol.
Rowling finished her manuscript for her first HP book 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' in 1995 on an old manual typewriter. The title of the seventh and final Harry Potter book, 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,' was revealed 21 December 2006.
